Saturday, April 8thMass: 2:45PM EST/7:45PM GMT Start: 3:00PM EST/8:00PM GMTGoing to get the ball rolling here and start some fresh accounts at 3EST/8GMT. We'll go for a couple hours to sort people out. Be sure to be familiar with the guide below, but we'll try to walk you through it best we can. Not 100% sure on how many supplies we'll have by then, but unless everyone shows up we should be fine. If you can't make it, don't panic we'll do more sessions in future to help you out. Guide:» Spoiler « New and improved DMM qualification guide accounting for quest related changes. Please follow this guide carefully, it is the fastest and easiest way to do this and not following it will only make things harder for yourself. We're aiming to have 100 individual accounts qualified this time round. Let's get it! Edit this if more efficient methods are found/for season specific changes. Once you have achieved a total level that could be considered safe, please PM me your account name and total level so that I can add it to the list.
» Spoiler « First things to mention. - Make sure you give back ANY spare items you have after getting your total level.
- If at any point you are stuck, log out until you can move on. Do not waste your protection time.
- Prioritise spare accounts if you have them, if not consider making one. The more accounts that you qualify the more you/others will be able to do in the tournament and the better our chances.
- This guide is only to get you near the total level necessary to compete in the tourny. There will be a completely different strategy for that.
- You only get six hours of PvP protection in which you cannot be attacked by other players. It's crucial to use this time efficiently.
Starting Out (Agility/Magic/Thieving/Mining/Hunter)» Spoiler « When you start a fresh account be sure to tell an official or Countymad, they will log on the clan bank account and give you the supplies for you to obtain the necessary total level. In the building you spawn on Tutorial Island, talk to Skippy (options: I am an experienced player > Send me to the mainland > Gnome Stronghold). Start by sorting out your sound and key settings and be sure to turn shift>click on. Train your agility up to 30 at the Gnome Course and then talk to King Narnode to obtain a grand seed pod. Walk to Nieve bank and deposit all your items, then trade the clan bank account for your supplies. Take out your amulet, staff, air runes and mind runes and then use the Spirit Tree to teleport to the Battlefield of Khazard (Ardy). Head into the zoo and use up all of your strike spells on the monsters there. Make sure you do this on regular casting and not defensive. Thieve from the man/woman upstairs in the house next to the general store. Once you get 5 thieving head east to the market & steal some cakes. You should bank about an inventory or two of cakes and then continue thieving whilst dropping until you're 30 thieving. Now walk towards the general store with an invent of food and pickpocket the warrior women just to the east until you are around 40-42 thieving. Make sure that you buy a knife from the general store while you're here. At this point you will be going to train mining. Equip your bronze pickaxe and bank your inventory, withdraw your mithril pickaxe and then walk to the mine northeast of Yanille. Mine and bank 1 inventory of copper and 1 inventory of tin (27 of each), then powermine iron ore until you reach 42 mining. Now you will be training hunter. Walk to Yanille bank and withdraw your coins, an axe, a tinderbox and a few food. Walk to the west side of Yanille and buy 4 or 5 bird snares from the hunter store. After you get them walk to all the way southeast of Yanille to this hunter spot. Catch Crimson Swifts, you can cut the trees here & burn the logs while you wait to catch the birds, and bury all the bones you get. Stay here until you reach level 20 and then walk west to this spot. Catch Tropical Wagtails using two traps, then 3 traps at level 40 and stay here until you reach level 45. Lumbridge/Varrock Basics (Basic melees/fishing/crafting)» Spoiler « Now, home tele to Lumbridge and speak to Duke Horacio in the castle to obtain an anti dragon shield. Go to the RFD chest, bank your inventory and withdraw your coins, an axe, tinderbox, mithril scimitar, needle and thread, your shortbow, your willow shortbow and your arrows, (and your ammy if you aren't already wearing it). Buy a pair of mith gloves from the chest and equip them. Head back upstairs and cut two logs, then talk to the melee tutor for the training sword and shield (equip them). Walk south of the church through the graveyard and follow the water south until you reach the fishing spot. Pick up a net from the floor and fish and cook on a fire until you are at least lvl 20 in each. Now go to the chickens north of the Al-Kharid gate and train your melees until you are 20 attack and around 15 strength and defence. Equip your mith scim and kill cows until you have a full inventory of hides. Tan these in Al-Kharid and then craft the leather into the best thing you can make at each level. Keep killing cows until you are around base 35s in your melee stats (make sure that you are at least 40 combat before leaving). Now train your ranged on the cows until you reach lvl 35. Now head back to Lumbridge castle and spin all of the flax you have into bowstrings. Once this is done, bank and teleport to Varrock. Train your agility some more at the Varrock rooftop course until you reach level 40. Now go to the east bank and withdraw 1k cash and your mithril pickaxe. Head to the estate agent just west of the church and buy a house. Now mine and bank 4 inventories of essence. Now take your bone crossbow/bolts, any ranged gear you have, your anti dragon shield and food. Head up to green dragons (graves is probably the best place) and kill 10 of them for their bones. Do not bury these as you will use them later, walk to Edgeville and bank them. Withdraw 1 law, 3 airs and 1 water rune and walk to Vannaka in Edgeville dungeon to get a slayer task from him. You do not have to do this right now, just fit it in whenever is most convenient in the guide but make sure you do it within your 6 hour protection period. If it's something you can do in Nieve cave, wait until the end section of the guide to do it. It isn't advised to farm slayer or combat levels for the sake of it, 35 slayer is usually a good number to stop at. You also shouldn't be looking past base 50s in melees/range, but you can do your slayer task with whichever of these styles is more convenient. You'll just have to train the other one in the Gnome Stronghold later. To Fally (smithing/farming/prayer/construction)» Spoiler « Start by smelting all of the copper and tin ore you mined earlier into bronze bars and then walk over to the east bank. Withdraw your cash, air talisman, cabbage seeds and a full invent of essence and head to the air altar to the southwest of Falador. Make your invent of air runes and then walk east from the altar to the farming shop and buy a rake. seed dibber and 20 compost from Sarah. Store all but 4 compost in the leprechaun and then rake, compost and plant cabbages in all the nearby allotment patches (make sure you store your rake afterwards). Now walk back to Falador east bank and deposit your inventory. Withdraw all your planks (noted), your coins, a saw, a hammer, your nails and your dragon bones (unnoted). Walk to Rimmington and enter the house "cadburys" through the house portal. If cadburys isn't home, pm an official or Countymad. Use all your dragon bones on the gilded altar and then exit the house portal. Unnote your regular planks through Phials in the general store and use them all up in your house before doing the same with your oak planks. When you have no planks left, go back into cadburys house and use the Varrock portal. Now go to the Varrock west bank and smith all the bronze and iron bars you have. Do the highest level things you can (platelegs/bodies etc) for the fastest xp and some basic armour. Now use up all your herblore supplies. Equip your ring of duelling and withdraw your fire talisman and a full invent of essence. Teleport to the duel arena and craft fire runes, then bank at castle wars with your ring. Repeat this until you have run out of essence. Withdraw your grand seed pod, cabbage seeds, a law rune and 5 airs and teleport to Camelot. Head to the Catherby and then the Ardy farming patches, raking, composting and planting seeds at each. Now use your seed pod to teleport back to the Gnome Stronghold. Finishing up at the Gnome Stronghold» Spoiler « You will stay here for the remainder of your training and your base will be Nieve bank. There are plenty of trees for wc/fletch/firemaking here, for which you should focus on oaks as this is the fastest xp overall. To the west of Nieve bank there is a fishing spot for fly fishing, just cook your fish on a fire. Ideally you want around lvl 50 for these easy skills, maybe less (something like 40) for fletching.
North of the spirit tree there are gnome guards on the way to the grand tree, you can safespot these using the benches for ranged or train melee on them. You want to be finishing around base 45-50 melees and ranged. If somehow you run out ammo you can buy arrows from the weapons shop on the 2nd floor (US 3rd floor) on the south side of the Grand Tree. There are also a few more farming patches around the Stronghold that you can rake/compost/plant.
This last point is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.
Once you have a safe total level it is imperative that you note any remaining items that you received from the clan bank and trade them back. This is particularly important for talismans, pickaxes, axes, etc but trade back everything.
Certain items are very hard to obtain in DMM and without reusing them we would run out very quickly. If you don't give them back you are making it much harder for other people that want to qualify and for those who spent a lot of time gathering the supplies for you.
Doing all of this efficiently should easily qualify you for the tournament within or around the 6 hours of protection. This post has been edited by Olde Nite: Apr 9 2017, 03:43 PM
